And when it comes to gut health, I’ve been through it all.
My healing journey started when all I wanted to do was to make my dad feel better. Because he’d been in poor health since my teen years, I was on a mission to discover what it means to live in vibrant health.
At 14, I became a strict vegetarian. When I was 18 or 19, I started experiencing terrible gut issues.
So what was my solution? To become even stricter with my diet.
First I became a vegan. Then a raw vegan. Then I tried a macrobiotic diet. (You name it, I’ve tried it.) I even developed an eating disorder, orthorexia, which is an unhealthy obsession with healthy eating.
But no matter what I did, my health worsened. I went through bloodwork, ultrasounds, and ended up in the emergency room at one point. I even remember traveling abroad and feeling so nauseous all the time and throwing up after meals.
That’s when I learned the hard way . . .
